Katy and John Rizk {Huntsville Wedding Photographer}

I had such a great time at Katy and John’s wedding! Katy is so talented and creative and had lots of GREAT personal touches through out the wedding including the wedding dress that she made herself! I was super impressed and she was beautiful. They also had a few really cool traditions that they incorporated into the wedding- my favorite one was the plate breaking and sweeping that they did together which symbolized that they will work through the messy things that come in life together! I loved the symbolism of that! They also were pelted- I mean, sprinkled with salt as they exited the ceremony as husband and wife. This is an arabic custom that they do to ward off the evil eye. It was so evident how much love Katy and John have for each other and all their family and friends. It was such a blessing to be a part of their day! Oh, I also LOVEDDDDD their first look complete with a huge bouquet of balloons. It was so sweet and so colorful. Much love to you two! Thank you for trusting me with your photos- and a BIG THANK YOU to my girl Brittney Melton Photography who is my most favorite person to shoot a wedding with 🙂

I asked Katy and John to answer a few questions about their wedding day:

What was your most favorite moment from your day?: John and I both feel that the first look was the most memorable part of our wedding day.  John proposed with balloons and we wanted to incorporate them into our wedding somehow.  Peeking out from behind a curtain of balloons was the perfect way for us to see each other before the wedding.  We were both so stressed and nervous leading up to our first look- and all of that melted away as soon as we saw one another.  It was the most unbelievably beautiful and special moment either of us could have ever imagined.

What advice would you give to other brides and grooms on their wedding day?: My advice for other brides is to drink water!  Everybody tells you to eat breakfast- nobody tells you to stay hydrated.  It’s super important.  Drink water, and of course- enjoy your special day.  Go with the flow and enjoy every second of it.  My nephew got his head stuck in between railings during the ceremony and one of the groomsmen had to step over and help him.  Sometimes the mini-disasters make for a great laugh.
My advice for other grooms would be to make sure to eat something, at least one meal. I was so busy trying to get everything together that I actually forgot to eat!  Also don’t procrastinate… it stresses out your bride to be.
